Large-scale modelling of genomic and environmental variation

The Centre for Statistics provided funds to establish a partnership between Statistics and the Roslin Institute.

Research Team: Gregor Gorjanc and Finn Lindgren

Project Summary: This project will start a partnership between large-scale genomic modelling efforts at The Roslin Institute and large-scale environmental modelling expertise at the School of Mathematics. It will start the partnership via seed funding to (i) initiate research on reducing computational burden of large-scale genomic modelling by leveraging recently proposed methods for large-scale environmental modelling, (ii) scope opportunities for joint genetic and environmental modelling and (iii) prepare the environmental modelling community on the forthcoming high-dimensional data deluge currently experienced in genomics.
