New CfS Director

Miguel de Carvalho is the new Director of the Centre for Statistics.

Miguel is a Reader in Statistics at the School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh; he is an Elected Fellow of the International Statistical Institute.

His research interests include, inter alia, extreme value theory, geometrical statistics, data visualization, econometrics, and medical diagnostic assessment. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Statistical Association, Annals of Applied Statistics, and for Computational Statistics and Data Analysis.

The Centre for Statistics thanks Jonathan Gair for all the hard work as former Director.
