Statistics for Agriculture: CfS and Roslin Institute Joint Research Afternoon The research event aims to bring together researchers from the Centre for Statistics and The Roslin Institute to identify shared methodological challenges and opportunities for collaboration at the interface of statistics, quantitative genetics, AI and applied biological research. TEAM-AI provides an immediate focus for this engagement, particularly around the development and evaluation of statistical and AI approaches for complex, high-dimensional breeding data, but the broader ambition is to establish a more sustained relationship between the two centres. By creating stronger links between statistical method development and real-world biological and agricultural problems, the event will explore opportunities for joint research, co-supervision, methodological support, shared funding applications and researcher exchange, while building a pipeline through which Roslin can access advanced statistical expertise and CfS researchers can engage with challenging applied problems, datasets and routes to impact.Organised by Daniel Tolhurst and Tim Cannings Schedule To be arranged Nov 26 2026 2:00pm - 5:00pm Statistics for Agriculture: CfS and Roslin Institute Joint Research Afternoon This research afternoon will bring together statisticians and biometricians Maria Watkins Room, The Engineering Forum This article was published on Wednesday 21 October 2026
