Prof. Sheila Bird OBE FRSE FMedSci, has worked tirelessly within the area of biostatistics for many years, before recently retiring from the MRC Biostatistics Unit, Cambridge. Her work has had tremendous international impact, and this has been recognised repeatedly by the receipt of several awards, including an OBE in 2011 for services to social statistics and four Honours awards from the RSS (Sheila is the only person to receive four Honours from the RSS).
