The keynote - The past, present and future of capture-recapture - gave a history of capture-recapture techniques and their associated applications, as well as examples of unreliable population estimates when blindly applying the standard approach. Ruth also outlined modern data collection developments that have led to further statistical challenges and discussed some of the associated novel techniques that have been developed to address these issues.
